About Us
HISTORY
People’s Collective for Environmental Justice (PC4EJ or PCEJ) Education Fund, a project under Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is proud to be a women/femme-led organization with a horizontal/flat structure that chooses to operate without an executive director.
The People’s Collective for Environmental Justice Education Fund was founded in 2020, amidst the pandemic, by six members dedicated to the environmental justice movement in the Inland Empire. They sought to create a transparent and radically community-centered nonprofit organization.
For decades, residents in Bloomington, Colton, and San Bernardino have experienced significant environmental challenges linked to the logistics industry, including air quality concerns and proximity to rail yards and warehouses. Research has shown that the expansion of warehouses and industrial operations disproportionately affects certain communities, raising important questions about environmental justice and equitable development.
PC4EJ is committed to providing education and resources that empower communities to understand these environmental impacts and explore solutions. Through local community engagement, public awareness initiatives, and policy education efforts, we support a just transition toward zero emissions and sustainable development.
PURPOSE and ViSiON
Our Purpose is rooted in the historical movement for environmental justice and community empowerment. We are dedicated to educating and supporting communities impacted by environmental challenges, providing resources to help residents understand pollution, exploitation, and systemic environmental inequities. Through research, public awareness, and capacity-building efforts, we work to foster health, well-being, and self-reliance in the Inland Empire while addressing historical environmental injustices.
Our Vision is a future where all people—regardless of ethnicity, culture, gender, economic class, or migration status—can thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally. We envision a society built on collaborative decision-making that prioritizes community needs, sustains a balanced relationship with the environment, and fosters inclusivity, acceptance, and resilience for all.
